About Gunni Óláfsson
Gunni Óláfsson, perhaps the eponymous ancestor of Clan Gunn. He spent much of his life at Duncansby Head on the Scottish mainland in his father's home. About 1150, Jarl Harald outlawed Gunni for having an illegitimate son with Margaret, Countess of Atholl. His brother Sweyn Asleifson sent him south to Lewis to stay with a friend. What became of him is not known, but some sources suggest that he eventually returned to Gairsay.
