Gussie Lounetta "Lou" Rush Blair 1925 - 2015,

Gussie Lounetta "Lou" Rush Blair of Springfield passed away March 6, 2015 at Green Valley Nursing Home in Eugene. She was born April 10, 1925 in Alikchi, Oklahoma to Gus T. and Hattie Elizabeth Harder Rush. Lou graduated from Battiest High School in 1943 and then on March 30, 1946 she married Donald S. Blair. Don preceded Lou in death on March 10, 1977.

Lou worked 20 years for the Springfield School District in the food service department. After retirement she worked as a cook at Tadmore Youth Camp. She loved feeding kids and baking cinnamon rolls.

Lou loved family and friends, playing dominos, and visiting by the hour. Her favorite thing growing up was going to gospel singings. She was in a quartet called Plains Harmony Girls. She was a member of the Singing Needles, a quilt club, quilting by hand for family and friends. She was a member of Twin Rivers Baptist Church.

Lou is survived by her children, Donna Blair Wilson & husband Bruce of Springfield; DeWayne Blair & wife Bea of Eugene; Ken Blair & wife Diane of Boise, Idaho; 5 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 2 great - great grandchildren. Lou is also preceded in death by four siblings Edward Rush, Snow Pate, Dixie Meeker and Mary Howard.

A private burial was held March 14, 2015 at Lane Memorial Gardens in Eugene.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, April 10, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Twin Rivers Baptist Church in Springfield.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Triangle Lake Youth Camps, C/O River Road Baptist Church 1105 River RD, Eugene, Oregon 97404.

We would like to extend many thanks to Brookdale of Springfield, River Bend Hospital and Green Valley Nursing Home of Eugene for helping us care for mom.

Major Family Funeral Home in Springfield is in charge of arrangements.
