In th United States she became known as Augusta Kristina Elvik. She lived in Hendricks, Minnesota, and worked in the laundry at the Hendricks Hospotal. She died on March 11, 1994 at the age of 103, and is buried at the Calvery Lutheran Cemetary near Hendricks, Minnesota. Augusta never married and had no children. She was very sharp mentally up to the very end, but lost her vision and hearing over the years.
