About Ratsumestari Gustav Claesson Skarpenfelt

Gustaf was married twice. There was some trouble about the testament between the half siblings. Gustaf was a soldier as his father Claes before him. The family was given the noble title and name Skarpenfelt, but they were never intoduced in the Royal Court. The mother of Gustaf, Elisabet Berchharst is also the foremother of the Finnish president Svinhufvud by a daughter a halfsister to Gustaf, from her first marriage with Juergen Nötebom.

The second wife came from Janakkala, Monikkala. She was Christina Catharina, a daughter of Anders Lillienbrunn. The Lillienbrunns are of Scottish origin, by the name Kirby or Kiorbiauw. The forefather came to Sweden Göteborg in the early 17th century. It seems they have been merchantists (iron) but then also soldiers in the King's wars in Poland and Lithuania. The estate in Janakkala was given to the family for the good service to the king in those wars.

Often this Christina Catharina is often mixed with an other near related person, Catharina Steen, born in Hauho, Kivikko. Her mother was Agnes Lillienbrunn. This Catharina was married with a soldier, Peter Wulf, whose son Samuel became a cantor in Ränneslöv, Sweden and has a big family of relatives there afterwards.

So both are coming from the Lillienbrunn noble family, but please, be careful not to mix them,
