History
Flanders War
For the Art of verifying dates, in 1328 he accompanied King Philippe de Valois in his wars in Flanders where he supported the glory of his ancestors, at the head of a company of men-at-arms. He participated in the Battle of Cassel in 1328.
The advent of Guy X in 1333, according to Couanier de Launay would have been celebrated with unusual pomp, and would be the cause of a disaster: the fire following a Greek fire from the spire of the Laval Trinity Church.
The war starts again in Flanders in 1340 by the Siege of Tournai , carried out by the English, called by the Flemings, Jean, Duke of Normandy, is sent to the aid of the place, accompanied by Jean III of Brittany , Duke of Brittany and Guy X de Laval, his brother-in-law 7 . After the Truce of Esplechin-sur-Escaut concluded between France and England on September 25 , 1340 and which includes Brittany, Duke Jean III accompanies King Philippe de Valois and spends the winter with him until Easter 1341 . He then took the path of his duchy and died in Caen in 1341 8 . Duke Jean III is buried by the care of Guy X de Laval at the Carmes de Ploërmel near his father and grandfather. His tomb has been since 1821 at the Saint-Armel church in Ploërmel .
War of the British Succession
On his return from the war in Flanders, Guy entered that which arose in 1341 between Charles de Blois and Jean de Montfort , for the succession to the Duchy of Brittany. Although brother-in-law of the second, he embraces the party of the first, husband of Jeanne de Penthièvre his niece. He takes his side as Baron de Vitré as promised by oath to Jean III of Brittany , and as Baron de Laval, because Jean de Montfort was supported by the English, when Charles de Blois was supported by the King of France, of whom he is the nephew.

He contributes by his valor and his skill to several victories that Charles won over his rival. Principal commander during the Battle of Roche-Derrien ,June 18 , 1347, he is killed after seeing victory slip from his hands twice.
His body was brought to Vitré by his widow Béatrix de Bretagne. He is buried in the collegiate church of the Madeleine , where we saw his tomb raised in the choir with this inscription: Cy gist noble and powerful lord Guy, lord of Laval and Vitré, who passed away at the battle of La Roche -Behind June 18 , 1347. Pray to God for him .
The Resentment of Anne of Brittany
Several chronicles indicate a feature of the resentment of the Duchess Anne of Brittany , Queen of France , against the memory of this lord, a feature reported by Bertrand d'Argentré and certified in the 18th century by the canons of Vitré.
