Gwerful was alive in 1293, according to Boyer. She was of the tribe of Bleddyn ap Cynfyn. Her lineage is as follows: Gwerful ferch Madog> ap Iowerth >ap Madog > ap Gruffudd > ab Owain Brogyntyn > ap Madog > ap Maredudd > ap Bleddyn > ap Cynfyn. [1] The FamilySearch Welsh Medieval Database says she was born about 1300. She was probably born in Trecastell, Llangoed, Anglesey, Wales. She was "of Yr Hendwr, Llandrillo-yn-Edeirnion, Merionethshire, Wales."
NOTE: The birth date 1300 doesn't made sense, given that she had a son, Gruffudd ap Gronwy, who died in the early 1330s at the age of 31.
She married Gronwy ap Tudur. (FMG shows that the name of Gronwy's wife is not known and that Gronwy had only one child.[2]
