About Gilbert De Hart

Son of Simon Aersen DeHart and Geertje Cornelis.

Perhaps born circa 1675.

Married Antje Wynants

[m. circa 1698; Note: her date of birth shown 1697? Typo? Should be 1679?]

Witnessed the will of Willem Willemse Bennet on 14 September 1702; William Bennet of Gowanus in Brooklyn. Mentions wife Arianke, children Gertroy, Greetie, William, Arianke, Hendrick, Mariki and Johannes. Wife named as executrix. Signs by his mark. Witnesses: Henry ffilkin, Symon Aerson, Gysbert Dehartt, the latter signs by his mark. Recorded at the request of William Bennett, 14 Sept. 1702 (same day), by Henry ffilken, Reg.

Witnessed the baptism of Symon DeHart , son of Elias DeHart and Catherine Lane, on 29 January 1703 at Reformed Dutch Church, New York City, New York, (witnesses Gysbert de Hart, Tryntie de Hart).

Witnessed the baptism of Aert de Hart , son of Elias DeHart and Catherine Lane, on 23 October 1711 at Six Mile Run, Somerset Co., New Jersey, (sponsors Gisbert de Hart and Anetye de Hart).

No record of baptism found. Stokes describes Gysbert as the "fifth child" of Simon Aersen, but it is possible that he was older than his brother Elias. Gysbert witnesses the will of William Bennet of Gowanus in 1702, and was Deacon at the Six Mile Run Reformed Church in Somerset Co., New Jersey in 1711.
