According to a Source (see Sources), he died on 21 Jan 1915. It reads, "the deceased was in the kitchen during a thunderstorm when he was struck by lightning and killed instantaneously".
The death notice gives his age as 53 years. However, using the SAG Volume date of birth, he died at the age of 55.
His daughter, "Alleta Elizabeth Sutherland", died with him in this unexpected tragedy.
