About Hail-Sage McClutchie

Killed in the sole care of her mother Kelly Percy and stepfather Adrian Wilson-Minimita. Hail-Sage normally lived with her paternal grandmother Delia Percy in Hamilton, but spent 10 days in Morrinsville with Kelly and Adrian in September 2009 during which she received a non-accidental traumatic brain injury. From around five days before her death Hail-Sage was in a lethargic state, constantly vomiting and showing her mother that she wasn't well by rubbing her head. Over this time the normally agile toddler had a number of falls, dried blood was found in one of her ears, she had a persistent cough, and the vomiting continued. Kelly and Adrian were too busy playing pokies and drinking to take her to the doctor, and in doing so failed to provide the necessities of life – namely medical attention. The slow death of Hail-Sage from a head injury saw her begin to have seizures and only then did she receive medical attention when she was admitted to Waikato Hospital before she died. Paediatrician Dr Peter Heron believes Hail-Sage's injuries were consistent with shaken baby syndrome. Source: https://debbiemccauleyauthor.wordpress.com/biographies/new-zealand-....

Beautiful little Hail-Sage was only 22 months old when she was tragically stolen. With beautiful big eyes and an adorable wee smile, her warmth reflected a love treasured by many, especially her paternal grandmother. Hail-Sage was fondly known as Sage. Her grandmother described Sage as a beautiful little girl who loved going for walks in her pram and spending time with her cherished cousins. Sage died on the 27th of September 2009 after suffering catastrophic head injuries. She passed away in her loving grandmother’s arms. After Sage’s death the Police launched a homicide inquiry, but after numerous interviews, an autopsy and expert forensic examinations both here and overseas, Police had to make the difficult decision in April 2011 that there was not enough evidence to prosecute anyone for her death, or the injuries she sustained leading up to it. In 2012 a coroner's inquest ruled that Sage's death could have been prevented had her mother Kelly Percy and her then-partner Adrian Wilson-Minimita sought medical help for little Hail-Sage, instead of going out to drink and play pokies. Sage normally lived with her paternal grandmother in Hamilton but spent just over a week in Morrinsville with her mother and her partner in the time that lead to her death. Justice has never been found for little Sage; something her grandmother has continued to publicly fight for. Silence has replaced the truth. Those who know exactly what happened to this precious little poppet in the last week of her life hide behind cowardly silence. Source: https://www.facebook.com/Stand-UP-NZ-493065167550374.

September 2009: Hail-Sage McClutchie's killer has never been brought to justice. The 22-month-old began vomiting five days after her mother picked her up from her caregiver and grandmother's house. She had a seizure and was admitted to Waikato Hospital where she died. She had non-accidental head injuries and a homicide investigation was launched but to date, no one has been charged with Hail-Sage's death.
