Biography

When Hannah Hoxie was born on October 2, 1708, in Sandwich, Massachusetts, her father, Hezekiah, was 33, and her mother, Dinah, was 33. She married John Samuel Chipman in 1725 in Newport, Rhode Island. She died on February 21, 1747, in Newport, Rhode Island, at the age of 38.

On his last trip to visit his second wife, Elizabeth, before she died, John Chipman met the widow Hannah Case of Rhode Island. Mrs Case had just buried her husband on Martha's Vineyard and was returning to the mainland. They took the ferry and traveled together on one horse to Dartmouth. John and Hannah (Hoxie) (Griffin) Case married in 1725 at Newport, Rhode Island. Hannah died of consumption 21 Feb 1747..
