About Hannah Haviland

The notion that William Haviland married Hannah the daughter of John Hicks, is proposesd by Josephine C. Frost on the basis that, 1) both William Haviland and John Hicks came down to Flushing from Newport, RI, so they were probably friends; 2) Flushing was a very small community of people; and 3) the will of John Hicks states, "...Also I give to every one of my Daughter Hannah Havilands Children a yearling Colt or a two year old Heyfer to each of them as ye Executor shall see meet to pay either Heyfers or Colts..." John only had one daughter, and we know the other Havilands in Flushing, who were children of William, were spoken for.
