Children of George Gardiner by his First Wife, Herodias (Long) (Hicks):
7. Dorcas Gardiner, was born about 1656, and married, about 1675, John Watson, who died in 1728. He married, as 2nd wife, her sister Rebecca.
He was a tailor by trade. In 1687 he was Constable, in 1688 on the Grand Jury, in 1690 Conservator of the Peace, and in 1690 he was Deputy.

- 47. John Watson, was born July 22, 1676, and died Nov. 8, 1772. He married, April 8, 1703, Hannah Champlin, a daughter of Jeffrey. He married, second, in 1722, Abigail Eldred, widow of Samuel and daughter of Stephen Norlhitp. He married, third, Sept. 28, 1738, Sarah Mowry, widow.
- 48. Samuel Watson, was born in i686(?), and died Nov. 25, 1779. The record of his birth(?) says he was aged 93. He married Mercy Helme, a daughter of Rouse and Mary ( ) Helme. He married, second, Hannah Slocum, widow of Hon. Samuel and a daughter of Robert and Hannah Carr.
- 49. William Watson, was born in i678(?), and married Mary Slocum {}).
- 50. Frances Watson, married Daniel Brown, a son of Jeremiah and Mary. He died in 1 726.
- 51. Ann Watson, married Peter Wales, who was born in 1681, and died in 1732.
- 52. Herodias Watson, was born in 1688, and married, April 11, 1706, John Sheldon, a son of John.
John Watson was born in England in 1646 and died March 11, 1729 in North Kingstown. He married Dorcas Gardiner before November 7, 1673.

An early settler of Kingstown where his first appeared in records in 1672. He was active in public life serving as memberof the Town Council, constable, conservator of the peace and a deputy of the General Court. He acquired 50 acres of land from John Porter, on the Pettaquamscutt Purchasers.
On 8 April 1692, at a meeting of the Pettyquamscut Purchasers, Benoni, George, William and Nicholas Gardner (Gardiner) and John Watson (i.e. husband of their sister Dorcas), their brother-in-law, represented themselves as, together with their brother Henry Gardner (Gardiner), assigns of John Porter deceased, one of the original purchasers, and appointed the said Henry "to sign the agreement then made by the purchasers, in his own and on their behalf" (Potter's Hist. of Narragansett, ed. 1835, p. 279). On 17 Nov. 1705 Benoni Gardiner and wife Mary, Henry Gardiner and wife Joan, George Gardiner and wife Tabitha, William Gardiner and wife Elizabeth, Nicholas Gardiner and wife Hannah and John Watson and wife Rebecca (i.e. Rebecca Gardiner his second wife) sold land in Kingstown (South Kingstown) near Point Judith Pond to John Potter, the purchase price to be paid Thomas Hicks of Flushing (Austin, p. 81). In "The Gardiners of Narragansett" by Caroline E. Robinson (at p. 204, inset) there is an old map, dated 5 Oct. 1705, showing the contiguous lands of Benoni, Henry, William, George and Nicholas Gardiner and John Watson on the west side of the Pettyquamscut River.
