Hannah Divoll was taken captive by the Indians with her mother and brother in 1667. At the same time the sister of her mother, Mrs. Rowlandson, was captured. Hannah was finally ransomed and married James Keyes of Marlboro, MA.
Children of Hannah Divoll and James Keyes. The older children (after 1694) born at Marlborough, the younger (after 1704) at Lancaster.
HANNAH Divoll
3 (52), b. in Lancaster, Mass., June 12, 1667. She was taken captive by the Indians from the Rowlandson Garrison house, on the destruction of Lancaster, Feb. 10, 1676-6. There is no full account of her redemption and it was thought that she died in captivity, but in the Middlesex Co. Records, Vol. 14, p. 620-21-22, I find under date of July 2, 1717, William Divoll and James Keyes, both of Lancaster, and Samuel Lummus, Jr., of Ipswich, divide land and Town Right in Lancaster, formerly belonging to John White, late of Lancaster, as a full settlement of their late mother’s estate. In the Keyes Genealogy, I find the both of the children of James Keyes and wife Hannah, also, in the records of Bolton where he, James, was the first Town Clerk in 1738. They were m. in Marlboro, Mass., ___, 1693.

Hannah's parents, Hannah and John Divoll, have 4 children listed in Lancaster vital records:
John, s. John and Hannah, Sept. 28, 1664. MCR
Hannah, d. Jno and Hannah, June 12, 1667. MCR
Josiah, s. John and Hannah, Sept. 27, 1669. MCR
Wm, s. Jno and Hannah (White), 8: 2m: 1672. MCR
Hannah's father John was killed during King Philip's War when Indians they attacked Lancaster on 10 February 1675/6.
The following are death records from Lancaster vital records:
Hannah, d. John, a. 9 y., died in captivity, victim of massacre of Feb. 10, 1676.
John, Ens., victim of massacre of Feb. 10, 1676.
John, jr., a. 12 y., died in captivity, victim of massacre of Feb. 10, 1676.
Josiah, s. John, a. 7 y., victim of massacre of Feb. 10, 1676.
According to these records, Hannah's father and brother Josiah were killed in the massacre, along with this Hannah (record says both died in captivity and victim of massacre - which was it?).
This is very curious, since in 1717 Hannah's husband James Keyes entered into an agreement with Hannah's sibling William and half-sibling Samuel Lummas to divide up property they inherited from their grandfather John White through their mother Hannah White Divoll Lummas. I don't know how Hannah could have lived to marry James Keyes if she died when she was 9 years old? Perhaps Hannah was taken into captivity but did not die?
The author of the book, "Genealogy of the descendants of John White of Wenham and Lancaster, Massachusetts" notes this discrepancy as well (see page 45) and concludes that Hannah lived to marry James Keyes.
It appears that Hannah's mother, brother John, Hannah, and her other brother William were all taken into captivity, where brother John died (his death record says both died in captivity and victim of massacre, so I am not sure which is correct). Hannah and her daughter Hannah and her son William apparently survived to be ransomed. According to the "Genealogy of the Descendants of John White mentioned above," Hannah the mother was ransomed May 12, 1676.
Hannah's mother, Hannah, married, before the birth of her son Samuel Lummas Jr. in 1679, Samuel Lummas Sr. They had one child together, born in Ipswich.
As mentioned above, I have attached an Agreement regarding the settlement of the estate of John White dated 2 July 1717 between William Divoll & James Keys both of Lancaster & Samuel Lummus Jr. of Ipswich, yeoman, related to a division of 100 pound towne right & several parcells of land belonging to us within the township of Lancaster which formerly belonged to John White Senior sometime of said Lancaster deceased. Dated 2 July 1717 and signed William Divoll, James Keyes, Samuel Lummus Junior.
Hannah did NOT die by the hands of the Native Americans but was ransomed after a couple of months along with her mother. She then went on to marry James Keyes. -CKHTC
