Disambiguation

Not to be confused with John Browne born in 1648, son of William Browne, husband of Hannah Collins. Several early texts including The History of Salem, Mass, Essex Antiquarian, etc. have confused two John Brownes. John Browne Jr (son of church Elder John Brown) married Hannah Hobart, and died before 10 August 1677; the other John Browne married Hannah Collins, and was still alive to make a real estate transaction in late 1680.[1]

[Note: Several early texts including The History of Salem, MA; Essex Antiquarian etc. Have confused two John Brownes. One who married Hannah Hobart and one that married Hannah Collins. Some texts indicate that Hannah Hobart Browne died and her husband took Hannah Collins as his second wife. This has been disproved. ]
