Hannah was the daughter of Isaac Vernon, born 1680, Cheshire England, and Hannah Williams (probably Cheshire), England.
The family name was de Reviers in France. The name changed to de Vernon with the aquistion of land in Vernon, France. When the family went to England in the 11th century, they kept the orignal French de Vernon rather than Anglicize it.
According to this document, Hannah was disowned by The Quaker Church: Goshen Monthly Meeting (Society of Friends) (Vol. IV, Mar. 19, 1740/41): Hannah Vernon (now Snodgrass) condemned for mou [mou = marrying out of unity] 19 Nov 1740/41..
Hannah's grandfather, Robert Vernon (b. 1642), along with his two brothers purchased land from William Penn while still living in Cheshire. Robert and his brothers built homes, which are now historical houses, in Rose Valley, near Media, Pennsylvania.
The three Quaker Brothers came to America, arriving on the on "The Friendship of Liverpool", Robert Crossman, Master, which is presumed to have arrived 14 August 1682 at Upland, Pennsylvania.
The brothers purchased a total of over 1800 contiguous acres called Nether Providence in the William PENN grant of Mar 1681. Robert was living in Chichester Monthly Meeting, PA in 1702. He m. 20 May 1663 at Herdshaw, Lancaster, England in the home of William BARNES to Elinor MINSHALL.
Robert Vernon of Stoke in the Parish of Aston, County Cheshire, England, the third son, came with his wife, Elinor Minshall. daughter of John Minshall and their sons John and Jacob. Robert was born around 1642 and died in Jan or Feb. 1709/10. His wife Elinor died July 24, 1720.
The Quaker Vernon family is well researched and documented in the Chester Co., PA historical records.
