About Hans Bardach Edler Von Chlumberg
Chlumberg, Hans, pseudonym of Hans Bardach, Edler von Chlumberg (Vienna, 1897-1930, Leipzig), an Austrian officer who wrote a symbolical pacifist play, Wunder um Verdun (1931), first performed at Leipzig in 1930. The play is set in the future (1939) and before the eyes of a German tourist who has fought at Verdun the dead of both sides rise from their graves in a plea for peace. By a tragic accident the author was killed at the dress rehearsal. He had previously written two plays, Eines Tages (1926) and Das Blaue vom Himmel (1929).
