About Hans Aronsen Sørra
Hans Aronson of Sørra, born c. 1792-1793, was a son of Aron Hansson of Sørra, born c. 1767, himself a son of Hans Amundson of Sørra, born c. 1723-1730, himself a son of Amund Jakobson of Sørra, likely born in the 1690s. The said Amund Jakobson of Sørra was a maternal grandson of Amund of Sørra, born c. 1633, whose daughter married Jakob Olson, born c. 1657.
Hans Aronson of Sørra was a member of the House of Godwin as a patrilineal descendant of Godwin, Regent of England, Earl of Wessex, Earl of Kent through Godwin's son Tostig, Earl of Northumbria. Tostig's son Ketil Hook (Kjetil Krok) immigrated to Norway in 1067, establishing an aristocratic dynasty at Torgar in Brønnøy—from which the Sørra family derives.
