About Hans Ulrich Zuppinger

GEDCOM Note

Hans Ulrich left Switzerland in August of 1734, at the age of 12. He crossed the Atlantic on board the ship "Mercury" and arrived in Philadelphia on May 29, 1735. He was naturalized September 10,1761 "by affirmation of being such who is conscientiously scruple to take an oath". This would indicate that he was a Mennonite or connected with some other sectarians. He moved to the Shenandoah Valley circa 1762 and acquired 428 acres on Mulberry Run, west of Strasburg, Virginia on August 6, 1762. He also acquired 485 acres between 1772 and 1779 in the Lebonan Church area.
