The family story is that Hanus was a watchmaker. At high school he attended the Deutsches Staatsrealgymnasium in Praha III. I have a silver platter he received for his Matura exam in 1936. He and his new wife Alzbeta had no children. His middle name was Friedrich after his grandfather Bedrich (Friedrich) Lederer.
He was born POLLAK but a few years later his father Viktor decided to convert and change the family name to POHNERT.
