About Haricleah Chipman

Cleah G. Chipman 1920 ~ 2006: Our sweet angelic mother, Haricleah Greaves Chipman, passed away March 13, 2006, after a struggle with cancer. She was named Haricleah for her Greek heritage which signifies strong and beautiful. Cleah was raised in Salt Lake City, Utah. She graduated from Granite High School in 1937 and later from Brigham Young University in 1943. Cleah married E. Parker Chipman in 1943 in the Salt Lake Temple. They lived in Marysville, California, where he was stationed during World War II. The couple then moved their family to American Fork, Utah, while Parker finished college at Brigham Young University.

Parker got a job as a geologist with an oil company and was sent to the Hopi Indian Reservation in Oraibi, Arizona, after which they moved to the Navajo Indian Reservation in Kayenta, Arizona, Sidney, Nebraska, Salt Lake City, Utah, Durango, Colorado, "her golden years", and back to Salt Lake where Cleah lived until she returned home to her Heavenly Father. Her husband was killed in an accident in 1975 doing one of the things he loved, rock hunting.

Cleah was always active in the LDS Church and served in the Primary, Relief Society, Young Women, and Sunday School organizations. She worked at the University of Utah Medical Center emergency room from where she retired in 1990.

Cleah is survived by her 10 children, 26 grandchildren and 17 great-grand-children; sister, 2 brothers. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, one brother, one sister, and her great-granddaughter Emma Snyder.

Ever the "Giver," Cleah's passing will leave a tremendous emptiness in our lives, but the sadness we feel is tempered by our knowledge that a grand reunion is taking place between Cleah and Parker and others so loved who have already gone home. Biography as per Brenda.
