Harold Carle was a member of the Iowa National Guard, joined at the age of 15 and served three years.

Retired from The Southern Pacific Rail Road on 1 July 1974.  He was a Railroad Carman and worked repairing damaged rail road cars.

From THE REGISTER-GUARD, Eugene, Oregon, 22 July 1996 HAROLD CARLE Harold Edward Carle of Eugene died July 20 of age related causes. He was 83. He was born Oct 27, 1912, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, to Charles and Maude Carle. He married June Britt in Rock Port, Mo., on May 11, 1935. They lived in Council Bluffs until moving to Eugene in 1947.

 Carle worked for Southern Pacific railroad.  He enjoyed cooking, baking and traveling in his RV.  In 1988, he was recognized for seven years of volunteer work in the the Sacred Heart Medical Center emergency room.

 In addition to his wife, survivors include a daughter, Sharon Loveall of Eugene; two sons, Ronald of Citrus Heights, Calif., and Richard of Eugene; a sister, June Bustardo of Council Bluffs; nine grandchildren; 11great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.  A son, Lloyd, of Seattle, died previously.

 No services will be held,  Rest Haven Memorial Park Funeral Home in Eugene is in charge of arrangements.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Eugene chapter of Alzheimer's Association.

In the above obituary it states that no services will be held. It was the family's intention to have a private internment but many friends, neighbors and men Harold had worked with on the Rail Road showed up.
