June suffered a heart attack on 16 August 2007. After several days in the hospital she was placed in a recovery facility in Eugene called River Park. We were informed at that time that she would not be able to care for herself and that she was suffering from severe dementia. We placed her in a memory care facility called Good Neighbor Care in Eugene, Oregon. On Saturday September 15 she suffered a massive stroke, was taken to the emergency room and placed in a room at the hospital. We were advised that she had only hours to live. On Sunday morning she was returned to Good Neighbor Care, the staff and Hospice assumed responsibility for her care. She died Saturday morning 22 September 2007.

22 September 2007

Junerose was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa on 15 November 1916 to James Harrison and Evelyn Armstrong Britt. June was the second of seven children born to this union. The children in birth order were: Violet, Junerose, Earl, Robert, Ardith, Elva and Jon. Only Junerose and her sister Elva survive. Elva Gibbs lives in Council Bluffs, Iowa.

Junerose and Harold Carle married in Rockport, Missouri on 11 May 1935. Born to this union were Richard Lee, born 12 July 1936 and Sharon Kay born 8 February 1940. Harold work at many jobs but spent most of his working life working for the Union Pacific and Southern Pacific railroads. Harold was an excellent cook and baker, he prepared most of the evening meals as he got home from work before Junerose. Junerose was a housewife and seamstress. During WW II she worked in Omaha, Nebraska at a factory that produced military uniforms. Junerose used her sewing skills to produce trousers.

After WW II Harold and Junerose with their children moved from Omaha, Nebraska to Eugene, Oregon. Harold worked for the Southern Pacific Railroad in the maintenance shops in Eugene. Junerose got a job sewing draperies at an upscale furniture store in downtown Eugene called Mountjoy and Carmichael. In 1958 Junerose started her own drapery business working at home.

Harold retired in 1974 and they spent several winters in Yuma, Arizona as snowbirds. Harold and Junerose had always enjoyed camping and traveling in their recreational vehicles.

Both Harold and Junerose were volunteers at the Sacred Heart Hospital for many years. Harold was awarded a 2,000-hour pin for his efforts in the Emergency Room. Junerose worked in the Intensive care unit for many years.

Harold died in 1996 and is entombed in the Rest-Haven cemetery at 3900 Willamette Street, in Eugene. Junerose has reserved a crypt next to Harold’s.
