Harold B. Heim Sr. DIES November 19, 2003
Harold B. Heim Sr., 88, of Easton, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2003, at his home.
He was born the son of Charles J. and Stella (Chmidling) Heim on March 23, 1915, in Winchester.
He married Martha M. Bromell on Feb. 20, 1943, at the St. Joseph of the Valley Catholic Church of Easton. She survives of the home.
Harold was a dairy and grain farmer and had owned and operated Heim Lake with his brother, Bernard, until his death in 1963, and continued until retiring in 1996. He was a lifelong member of the St. Joseph of the Valley Catholic Church and he served on the church committee. He was a member of the Mt. Olivet School Board, the District 5 Water Board where he served as chairman for many years. Harold was a sportsman and enjoyed hunting and was an avid trap shooter. He ran a trap shoot at Heim Lake for more than 20 years. Harold was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He touched many lives and he will be greatly missed by all.
He is survived by his wife of more than 60 years, Martha; three sons and their wives, Richard E. and Linda Heim, Easton, Jerry L. and Sandy Heim, Leavenworth, and H.B. and Sandra Heim, McLouth; two sisters, Agnes Heintzelman and Eleanor Forge; two sisters-in-law, Mary Alice Heim and Mary Ann Heim; 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
His parents; brothers, Charles, Cloyd, Herbert, the Rev. Hilary and Bernard Heim; and sister, Betty Heim; all preceded him in death.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the St. Joseph of the Valley Catholic Church (31151 207th St.), where a rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Friends may call after 4:30 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the church, followed with the burial in the Mount Olivet Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the St. Joseph of the Valley Catholic Church, Leavenworth Hospice or Council on Aging, all in care of the Belden-Sexton-Sumpter Funeral Chapels, 500 Oak St., Leavenworth, KS 66048, 682-1614.
