About Harriett Vanderhorst Frost

Harriet Vanderhorst Horry was born on March 27, 1808 in Newport, Rhode Island. She was baptized in Aug 1808 in Trinity Church, Newport, RI. .

Harriet married Judge Edward Frost in 1826. Judge Frost was born on April 27, 1801 in Charleston, South Carolina. He died July 21, 1868 at home, 128 Tradd St, Charleston, SC. He was buried in Magnolia Cemetery, Charleston, SC.

Edward Frost was an Associate Justice of the South Carolina Supreme Court. After 10 years, he resigned to devote his time to farming his wife's recently inherited Fairfield Plantation in St. Andrew's Parish. Later, he became President of the Blue Ridge Railroad, which was never finished due to the Civil War.

Once source lists her date and place of death as May 23, 1900 in Newport, Rhode Island. According to her gravestone, she died May 3, 1890. It is most likely that she died in Charleston.
