From findagrave: Lady Harriet Jemima Gurney (née Hay) (1802-1837)
- Name: Lady Harriet Jemima Gurney (née Hay)
- Born: Wednesday, 20 January 1802, Aberdeenshire, Scotland
- Died: Wednesday, 8 February 1837 (aged 35), North Runcton, Kings Lynn and West Norfolk, Norfolk, England
- Buried: [All Saints Churchyard, The Green, Norfolk PE33 0RB 52.71554, 0.43602]
- About: Monument to Lady Harriet Gurney 1837. Marble. Chancel, north, centre. Presumably commissioned by her husband Daniel. Signed: J. Browne, London 1837. A large simple Greek inspired stele. It included one of her children, but not the remaining eight, but allowed space for members of the family. The next was her husband Daniel Gurney (1791-1880). He had been born at Earlham House, Norwich to Quaker parents, John and Catherine Gurney, and was the brother of Elizabeth Fry and of Joseph John and Samuel Gurney, responsible for the Norwich branch of Gurneys bank. Daniel entered the Lynn branch in 1809, later managing it, and was appointed a senior partner in the Norwich branch in 1832. He had married Lady Harriet Hay in 1822, establishing the family home in North Runcton Hall. After settling in North Runcton he shared the right to appoint rectors with Trinity College, Cambridge, responsible for those in the previous century. Their four sons are commemorated on the monument, together with their wives: Francis Hay Gurney 1890, his wife Margaret Gurney ( Ffolkes) 1890; the Reverend William Hay Gurney 1898, long rector of the church, his wife Anna Maria Gurney (Boileau) 1897 and Charles Henry Gurney 1899. Their fourth child, Edmund Hay Gurney had died as an infant in 1825. From The Oxford Dictionary of National Biography, article by M.W. Kirby 2004.
