About Harriett Lansing Carter

Harrett Carter died at her home, 3 miles east of Goodson Sunday, February, 12th. She leaves two sons, George at Louisburg, Crum of Goodson; one daughter, Mrs. Jess Mashburn. The funeral was held Monday at 2 pm at the Goodson Baptist Church preached by Rev. Jones of Louisburg. Interment three miles east of Goodson, under the direction of Clyde, Marsh and S. B. Hutcheson Funeral Home.

Harriet L. Arnold was born October 14, 1849, near Knoxville, Tennessee, and died February 13, 1933, age 83 years, 4 months and 29 days. She came to Missouri with her parents at the age of 3 years. She was converted and united with the Methodist church in her early girlhood and lived a devoted Christian life.

She was married to James Trousdal Carter March 2, 1876. Six children were born to this union. Three preceded her in death, James who died in infancy, Manford in early manhood, and Helen on a few years. Her husband died January 17, 1920. Two sons, G. L. and C. E. Carter and a daughter Mrs. Meda Mashburn survive her. She also leaves a niece, Mrs. Lizzie Boren, whom she reared from infancy, 24 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, a brother, George S. Arnold and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her loss.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Jones at Goodson Monday afternoon and the body was laid to rest beside her companion in Mission Cemetery to await resurrection.
