Harriett Staats married Newton Poling on April 24, 1861, in Ripley, Jackson, West Virginia.

Children: Naomi, Minnie and Oella.

Harriet was his second wife. He also had four children with his first wife; John M., Hannibal S., Henry A. W. and Mary.
