About Harrison Jesse James Worley
Just as his father before him, Harrison & family moved several times to find work. Harrison worked in the flour mills in St. Louis, Missouri, as well as the lead mines in Leadwood, Missouri. After he had served his time in World War II, the family settled in St. Marys, Missouri and worked at the Lime Kiln in Ste. Genevieve, Missouri for many years, and retired. Harrison & Juanita were active in the United Methodist Church. Harrison was a trustee, and often plays the piano for the worship service. Like his parents & grandparents before him, Harrison also played music. He plays a banjo, violin and piano. Many an evening was spent with the fun of singing, dancing & playing music. Juanita taught Sunday School and always had a listening ear and kind word for everyone. The celebration of Christmas is always held in the family home. Although it is not a large home, as many as 75-100 Worleys gather there at the home for the celebration. Again the tradition of the big pot simmering on the stove is served & singing and fun is the event of the evening.
