Harry H. "Hal" Platt was born 16 October 1875 in Riverside township, Adams county Illinois, to Josiah Platt and his wife, the former Sarah Kendall.
Mr. Platt conducted a grocery store in Quincy Illinois, at 1516 North Third street, and later at 501 Locust. He also sometimes hauled sand with his brother Josiah Platt Jr. The sand was used at the many stove foundries then found in Quincy.
Hal Platt wed Miss Ida Elfers 10 January 1895.
After the wedding Mr. Platt began a 14 acre truck farm. he specialized in peaches and strawberries. He ran his farm for 65 years.
Harry "Hal" Platt passed away at a Quincy Illinois hospital. He was 84. His wife had predeceased him, 16 October 1958. As well, their son Frank Platt had died in 1956.
Reverend Lyman Grimes led funeral services held at Daugherty Memorial funeral parlor in Quincy Illinois. Interment took place at Quincy Memorial Park.
