South African Commercial Advertiser 1833 - 4 - October to December Wednesday 20 November 1833 ACCIDENT AT BREEDE RIVER On Saturday afternoon the 9th instant, Mr. H. LUTTIG of Beaufort, on his journey from Cape Town, on attempting to cross the Breede River on horseback, at the new drift near Worcester, was carried off with his horse by the strong current, and unfortunately drowned, leaving, as we hear, a wife and five young children to deplore his sad loss. The horse was also lost.
