Harvey E. Bishop, of Dublin., PA, died Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at his home. He was 93. He was the husband of the late Edna (Detweiler) Bishop who died in 1985. Born in Plumstead Twp., PA, he was the son of the late Elmer and Laura (Worthington) Bishop.

He was a U. S. Navy Veteran of World War II, having served in the Pacific Theatre while stationed as a Diesel Mechanic on the USS Lioba. He fought in the Battle of Okinawa and attained the rank of Motor Machinist's Mate Third Class.

Mr. Bishop was a self-employed auto mechanic, operating the Dublin Service Station and Garage, Dublin, PA, where he worked since 1947. He purchased the business in 1971 which he owned until retiring in 1984.

He was a member of St. Luke's United Church of Christ, Dublin, where he served on the Church Consistory. Mr. Bishop was a life member, Past Chief and Past Assistant Chief of the Dublin Volunteer Fire Company. A member of the Dublin Lions Club, he was a former Hilltown Boy Scouts Commissioner. An avid hunter and fisherman, he was a member of the Pennridge Hunting Club in Potter County. He was especially fond of his Labrador Retrievers.

He is survived by a daughter, Janet L. Bishop, of Dublin; a son, Dennis Bishop and his wife Karen, of Dublin; a grandson, Patrick Bishop and his wife Stacey, of Bensalem, PA; a granddaughter, Cynthia Bishop and her husband Robert Richey, of Quakertown, PA; two great grandchildren, Dean and Ashlyn Bishop; and three sisters, Belle Meyers, of Souderton, PA, Mabel Stauffer and her husband Herbert, of Telford, PA, and Gertrude Bryan and her husband Claude, of Dublin.

His Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at 12:00 Noon in St. Luke's United Church of Christ, 141 S. Main Street, Dublin, where family and friends may call from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Interment will follow in St. Luke's Union Cemetery, Dublin.
