About Harvey Snyder Eichelberger

son of Adam Eichelberger - Magdalene Hoke

Harvey Snyder Eichelberger married Miss Mary Elizabeth Shaffer in 1855. She preceded him in death on 4 May 1870 according to the family Bible. Children born to this union: Albert, Milton, Martha Blanche, Caroline "Carrie" May, and James A. Eichelberger.

Harvey Snyder Eichelberger married Margaret S. Emerson in 1872. Harvey Eichelberger moved to Young County in 1872 from Pana, Illinois.

Harvey Snyder Eichelberger, formerly of Graham, but late of Bowie, Texas, died at his home near Bowie, Texas. His body was transferred to Graham for interment, arriving on Tuesday night's train, and was interred Wednesday morning. Services were held at the home of his son-in-law, C.W. Johnson officiated by Rev. Paxon, the pastor of the Presbyterian Church. The widow and all of the deceased were present at the time of his death. Mr. Eichelberger's most active parts of his life were identified with the interests of Young County and its people. In the early days, he was a successful and prominent stockman of Young County, but feeling the burden of age approaching some years ago, he retired from the life of a stockman and went into the mercantile business in Graham. Age and failing health drove him from this business and he moved to Bowie in 1902, bought a small farm near the city, and lived there until his death. His mind was always too active for his physical strength. He was a man of great moral firmness and was always found on the moral side of all public questions. He was devoted to the church, a man of deep religious convictions, and a high sense of honor. He was honored and respected by all who knew him.

Survived by his wife; children - Mrs. C.O. Joline, Mrs. C.W. Johnson, E.M. Eichelberger, J.A. Eichelberger.
