About Harvey Parley Lee
Harvey Parley Lee was born 1 Oct 1852, in Parowan, Iron, Utah. Harvey died 4 Feb 1927, in San Diego, San Diego, California, and was buried in Panguitch, Garfield, Utah.
Harvey Parley and his wife were among the early pioneers of Panguitch. He later ranched at East Fork between Panguitch and Escalante. He was also a farmer, sheep shearer, and brick maker. He made the brick for his own home and for others, as well as burning the lime and sawing the lumber. He also did a good deal of freighting to Dixie and traded wool for any commodity the family could use.
In 1882, they moved to Safford, Arizona, but soon returned to Panguitch to avoid troublesome Indians and malaria. After the death of his wife in 1911, he spent much of his time in San Diego, California with his children. While there he cared for a livery stable and did some landscape gardening; he was seldom idle. In every way he was considered an honest and honorable man.
He married Sarah Ellen Adams 15 Feb 1873, in Panguitch, Garfield, Utah. She was born 29 Jul 1858, in Heber, Wasatch, Utah. She was the daughter of James Adams and Sarah Carroll. Sarah died 2 Nov 1911, in Panguitch, Garfield, Utah, and was buried 4 Nov 1911, in Panguitch, Garfield, Utah.
