Hattie Catherine Wyant Thompson passed away May 4 at the Augusta Medical Center in Fishersville.

She was born Feb. 25, 1915, in Mormon's River, what is now Crozet, a daughter of the late Hiram Chapman and Cornelia Frances James Wyant.

Mrs. Thompson spent most of her life in Waynesboro, and was a member of the Waynesboro Church of the Brethren. She was previously married to Raymond Jesse Moyers, of Franklin, W.V., now deceased. She married Rufus Cornelius Thompson, April 8, 1946, who is also now deceased.

In addition to her parents and spouses, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Lemuel Chapman Wyant, Emory Hiram Wyant and Ellis Dulaney Wyant; and seven sisters, Nettie McAllister, Mertie Lee Wyant, Lottie M. Bennett, Arlettie G. Glass, Olive V. McAllister, Edna Talbert and Glenna F. Irvin.

She is survived by daughters, Ruby Catherine Moyers White, of Morrow, Georgia, Emilie Christine Moyers Lizama of Alto, Ga., and Dorothy Crawford Moyers Kobus and her husband, Fred, of Afton; one son, Rufus Cornelius Thompson Jr. of Waynesboro; eight grandchildren, 18 great- grandchildren and two great- great-grandchildren; one sister, Lizzie Gertrude Wyant Wood of Fishersville; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service was held May 11 at Waynesboro Church of the Brethren, 364 Bridge Ave., Waynesboro, VA 22980, with Pastor Edward L. Carl officiating.
