Obituary: Hazel Belle Hawkins Claremore, OK —
Hazel was born to Charles “Holmes” and Lula E. Baldwin on Dec. 12, 1916, in Terrell, Texas. In 1938 she married George Otis Hawkins, who preceded her in death April 1994. Hazel was a full-time homemaker, and devoted mother and grandmother. She loved to cook, sew, and garden, as well as care for others. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Dallas, Texas. She was proud of her Baptist heritage. Her maternal great-grandfather was Hosea “Lott” Holcombe, 1780-1841, a well-known Baptist evangelist, church organizer, and historian of Alabama. She was a native Texan, having lived in Dallas for 60 years. Hazel is survived by: three children: Mary Virginia and Paul Mattke of Claremore; Charles M. Hawkins of Scurry, Texas; and Beverly Anne and Stephen Papania of Rowlett, Texas; eight grandchildren: Pamela and John Jarrett of Claremore; Paul T. and Sharon Mattke of Broken Arrow; Melissa and Daniel May of Claremore; Suzanne Mattke of Bartlesville; Jennifer and Sandy Rivers of Irving, Texas; Katherine Anne Papania of Rowlett, Texas; Stephen Kenneth Papania of Denton, Texas; and Charles J. Hawkins of Scurry, Texas; and eight great-grandchildren: Christopher Jarrett, Megan Mattke, Kacie Mattke, Jacob Mattke, Emma Mattke, Owen Rivers, Dillion Hawkins, and Torie Hawkins. Services will be held 10 a.m. on Saturday, at Moore Funeral Home Eastland Chapel, 19th and Memorial, Tulsa. |
