About Heila Pienaar
Heila Pienaar (1968 - 2008)
Brief overview:
Heila (41), was axed to death at the family's scrap-metal yard, Waldrift Smallholdings, outside Alterton, near Vereeniging on 1st October 2008. Her daughter Charmaine (18), lay critically wounded next to her dead mother for hours, bleeding profusely from a cracked skull. They were discovered by Heila's husband Danie (42) and son Frikkie (21), when neither of the women answered their mobile phone. The women had been alone at Great Yard Scrap Metals when they were attacked and robbed for R2000. Charmaine was able to identify the attacker when she recovered in hospital.
When Netcare 911 emergency services received the emergency call just after 15:00, they took Charmaine to the Vereeniging Medi-Clinic, where she is in a serious but stable condition, said Netcare 911 spokesperson Mark Stokoe. She has a fractured skull. Police spokesperson Captain Shadow Mashobane, said the attacker appeared to have cut the barbed wire on a concrete wall to gain access to the scrap yard, between 09h00 and 12h00.
