In a statement handwritten by Great-great grandpa Fred, he says he served in the Hanover Army in 1866, in Prussia. He fought in the battle at Langensalza in 1866. (A medal is displayed on his breast pocket). He immigrated to Illinois in 1868 and came to Kansas in September of 1869. The statement, originally written in Gerrman, was translated by his great-granddaughter, Luella Riekenberg Colburn. The translated document is uploaded here.
