Heinrich Welle

Heinrich "Henry" Welle was born in January 1825 in Dumberg, Paderborn, Westphalia, Germany. He was the 2nd of the eight children born to Christoph and Theresia (Kerkhoff) Welle.

On May 20, 1854 he was united in marriage to Gertrud Roggel in Bad Lippspringe, Paderborn, Westphalia, Germany. Henry and Gertrude Welle are the parents of seven children, all born in Dumberg, Westphalia, Germany except the last child, Maria Welle Rieland, who was born near Freeport in Oak Township, Stearns County, Minnesota on December 5, 1870.

Henry and Gertrud Welle's seven children include:

- Christian Heinrich Welle (1855-1943) - Heinrich Herman Welle (1857-1934) - Anna Maria Welle Schwieters (1860-1897) - William John Welle (1863-1932) - Conrad Christoph Welle (1865-1911) - Helena Welle Timmer (1867-1895) - Maria Welle Rieland (1870-1928)

The Welle family immigrated to America in 1869. Henry Welle's younger brother made the trip to America with Henry & Gertrud and their six children. The Welles settled on land in Stearns County in central Minnesota.

Henry Welle died on October 25, 1904 at the age of 79 years. Gertrud Welle died three years earlier, on May 15, 1901, when she was 70 years old. Henry and Gertrud are buied next to each other in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Freeport, Stearns, Minnesota.

Both were preceded in death by two of their daughters, Anna Schwieters and Helena Timmer. They were survived by the other five children.
