Helen Ellen Jones

"Helen Jones Benner McGrath(Fleming): b. 6/14/1855 d. 3/10/1929. She was daughter of Capt. Lemuel F. Jones and Abigail Miller Jones. All were born in Bristol. I believe the parents lived in Round Pond all their lives.Helen Jones was married first to Edward Benner b. Nobleboro ME Occupation:Teamster. This is off Uncle Will's certified birth cert. Uncle William Benner b. 7/20/1876 at Bristol ME. I knew Uncle Will. He was still alive in the 1950's and lived in a cabin on my grandparent's farm in Orland ME. Another Benner was his sister Angie. My mother was born in her house in Rockland ME. I never met her, but knew two of her children Nora and Arthur. William Gabrielson was Angie's husband. Their son William died young. The only grandchild was an illegitimate daughter of Arthur(no info known). Uncle Will married a woman Jen who was 10 yrs older. They had no children. According to the 1880 Census in Bristol Helen's husband went by J. Edward Benner. I found him because he is on the same page as Lemuel Jone's household. There is one other son mentioned in the Census Edward B. who is three years older than Will. I know nothing about him. In the Census Abigail and Lemuel have five children still at home. Edward E. 22, Adella 18, Mary A. 16, Carrie A. 6 (Her married name was Leeman, she and Uncle Will remained close and corresponded)and Lemuel 4. Also on the same page is Thomas Fossett's household. Lemuel Jones lived with him before he was married (1850 census). Thomas' wife is Mary C.. She is Lemuel Jones sister! Their parents were Ira Jones and Margaret Perkins. They were both b. Bristol. They wed 11/3/1822. Ira died suddenly on Hog's Island Wednesday 12/30/1840. In the 1830 Census they had one male child under 5 and one female child under 5." according to Ruth Spisoli (Hession).
