SALMI Mrs. Helen Miriam Salmi, age 83 years, of 1445 Balmoral Street, passed away at her residence on Thursday, June 22nd, 2000 following a brief illness. Born in Port Arthur, Helen was a lifetime resident of the area. She had resided in Nolalu and then moved to Port Arthur in 1962. Her main interests were her home, family, and she especially enjoyed writing stories. Helen is survived by her husband Svante; son Marvin (Sinnikka); two daughters - Gloria (Joe) Dolce and June (William) Wozny all of Thunder Bay; seven granddaughters - Lori-Ann, Sheri-Lynn, Candace, Leanne, Michelle, Jodi and Coral; two great grandsons - Tyler and Kieran; sister-in-law Enni Pakka of Nolalu. Also surviving are other relatives in Finland and USA. Helen was predeceased by her parents. Cremation has taken place, and a Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, June 27th at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Harbourview Funeral Centre, 499 North Cumberland Street, officiated by Rev. W. Lawrence Maunula. Interment of cremains will follow in the Family Plot at Riverside Cemetery. If friends so desire, donations may be made in Helens' memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
