About Helen Woods

Helen Richards Taylor Woods, age 96, died Thursday, January 10, 2002, in Flagstaff, Arizona. Born April 10, 1905, in Provo, Utah, to Amelia Richards and Frederick Whitaker Taylor. Helen married Albert L. Richards on May 27, 1927, and they later divorced. Then Helen married Milton J. Woods on April 9, 1943, in Heber City, Utah, and that marriage was later solemnized in the St. George Temple. Milton died September 7, 1997. Helen was involved in many types of handcrafts, including knitting, crocheting, tatting, and was a master quilter, winning many prizes. She enjoyed the outdoors, hiking, camping and gardening. She was the longest lived and last surviving member of the Provo Acacia Club, a member for over 60 years. She lived most of her life in Provo, Utah, and also lived in Mesquite, Nevada; Blythe, California; Duchesne, Utah and Page, Arizona. She was active in several groups including the Page Hospital Auxiliary.

Survivors include children Doris Mendel of Riverside, California, H. James (Janone) Richards of Phelan, California, and Michael A. (Lois) Woods of Page, Arizona; ten grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. She was preceded in death by husband Milton Woods, son Norman Richards, two grandchildren, four brothers and four sisters.

Funeral services will be held Monday, January 14, 2002 at 11 a.m. in the Page Arizona LDS Stake Center, 1301 North Navajo. Viewing will be held from 9:45-10:45 a.m. at the Chapel. Burial will be in the Page Cemetery.
