Helena Johanna Susanna Steyn, b1c3d11e4f4

According to GISA’s SAG CD Vol. 12 (p. 238), the twins Helena Johanna Susanna STEYN [e4f4] and Elizabeth Geertruyda Cornelia STEYN [e4f5] were both born on 12.8.1827 and both baptized in Tulbagh on 8.10.1827.

However, according to MOOC8/59.38a and MOOC8/59.38b, their father, Johannes Christoffel Steyn, died circa 1812. How his daughters could have been born in 1827 is rather inexplicable.

Also, it is to be noted that their older sibling Martha Maria Christophelina STEYN [e4f3] was born some 16 years earlier and was baptized on 27.11.1811. This exceptionally long time-period between the births of the siblings casts additional doubt on the accuracy of GISA’s records in this respect.

I suspect that neither e4f4 or e4f5 really existed and were in fact the twins Helena Johanna Susanna STEYN and Elizabeth Geertruida Cornelia STEYN born on 12.8.1827 and baptized in Tulbagh on 8.10.1827 (see p. 262 of SAG CD Vol. 12).
