Helena D. Toews

My wife and our mother, Helena Koop Toews was born to Jacob N. and Helena Koop on November 20, 1912; at Steinbach, Manitoba. She passed away, into the arms of God, on December 2, 1974; reaching the age of 62 years and 12 days.
In her youth, Mother moved with her parents to Satanta, Kansas where she received most of her education. At the age of 20, she found the Lord and was converted. She adhered to this faith unto her end.
On December 24, 1933; she was united in marriage to me, Adolph Toews, at Satanta, Kansas. We shared the joys and sorrows of life for 40 years and 11 months. These were happy years together; God has always been good to us, even though we often failed Him. In later years I, Adolph, accepted the Lord and in my weakness tried to serve Him, being faithful to Him, though failing often. During our years together we have resided in various places of Manitoba, Ontario and Alberta.
God blessed us with six children, three sons and three daughters. Joe, and Charlotte Toews of Blueberry Mountain, Alberta; Yvonne and Lloyd Brown of Mirror, Alberta; Judy and Jim Reed of Calgary, Alberta; Danny and Maureen Toews of Mirror, Alberta; Anita and Tom Clare of Calgary, Alberta; Douglas and Brenda Toews of Linden, Alberta; as well as 17 grandchildren; her mother, Mrs. John E. Friesen, Steinbach, Manitoba; her sister, Katherine Koop, Steinbach, Manitoba; and one brother, Jacob D. Koop of Kola, Manitoba.
She was preceded in death by one grandchild, Juanita Lynn Clare, daughter of Tom and Anita Clare, her father, one brother and one sister.
Life will be very lonely without Mom, but we know she is with God. We all hope to join her someday.

Funeral services were held in the Linden Congregation, Linden, Alberta on December 6, 1974; with Ministers Cornie Wiebe and Ben Hiebert in charge. Interment was made in the local cemetery.
