Cornelius Hendricksen Bries, son of Hendrick Volkertson FOI Brees and Grietje Dewitt, was born in 1671 in Queens, Queens, NY. He died in 1722 at the age of 51 in Orange Co., NC.

While I don't know for sure Timothy's parents I believe him to be of Dutch/German ancestry, particularly from Hendrick Volkertsen of Brooklyn who adopted the surname Bries. Hendrick had at least three sons: Folkert, Jurian and Cornelius, each with a son Hendrick who settled in Staten Island and in areas of Somerset County, New Jersey.
Hendrick Bries arrived in 1661 on ship Vergulde Bever from Beest, Gelderland (NL) and settled in New Albany. He died in 1695.
