About Hendrick Van Hook
Henry [Hendrick] Van Hook b. 19 Feb 1701 in Albany, Ny who married Deborah Parent. Their son, Samuel b. 15 November 1733, married Hannah Higgins. Unfortunately Hannah was killed and scalped. Samuel and Benjamin had been captured and were taken to Detroit by Indians and remained there for 4 years and 2 months. When Samuel and Benjamin returned he discovered she had been killed. He remarried to a widow, "Hannah" Wilson Williams. This info is in Collins HISTORY OF KY, according to a Dorris Easley Estes in her book, Joseph Whiteley, Sr., of Whitehaven, England and His American Descendants. I have found references to Hannah's fate in other sources as well. (Info from Marlene Creech 15 Nov 2004)
