Hennie Moldenhauer (1963 - 2021)

Brief overview:

Hennie (58), from Amersfoort was found shot dead on his farm on 16th May 2021. He had sustained one gunshot wound to his left ear.

Police spokesperson Brig. Leonard Hlathi, said that Hennie's body was found next to his soybean field on the farm. His wife identified his body.

Three cartridges and a 9-mm cartridge case were also found at the scene. Hennie apparently had a pistol and a rifle with him, but neither of the firearms were found at the scene.

Update 20/05/2021: The main suspect was found dead in the detention cells in the early hours of Thursday morning (20th May). Leonard Hlathi said that Moldenhauer's two firearms that were missing had been recovered. It is suspected that Moldenhauer caught people on his farm where they were hunting illegally. However, the police have not yet confirmed this suspicion.

Update 21/05/2021: The alleged killer of the farmer Hennie Moldenhauer from Amersfoort apparently hanged himself with stockings (socks) on Thursday morning after he made certain confessions and the farmer's firearms were found in his possession. According to sources, the suspect admitted that he fired the fatal shot and that there was at least one "accomplice" with him during the incident.
