Born in 1810 and died in 1845, Henrietta Samuel, was wife of Baron Solomon Benedict de Worms, first Baron de Worms of the Austrian Empire.
Baron Solomon was born in 1801 and died 20 October 1882. He was the son of Benedict Moses Worms (died 1824) and Jeannette (1771-1859), the eldest daughter of Mayer Amchel Rothschild, father of the five famous Rothschild sons.
Baron Solomon was born in Frankfurt-on-Main, came to England at an early age to join his uncle, Baron Nathan Mayer Rothschild, but eventually settled in Ceylon. There he and his brothers contributed greatly to the development of the colony by building up one of the biggest and best cultivated tea plantations on the island, known as the Rothschild Estate.
He died at Brighton, Engand. He was a prominent English financier and a life-member of the Council of the United Synagogue. In 1871 he was created Baron and three years later was granted the Royal Right by Queen Victoria to use his title in England in consideration of Solomon's efforts and those of his brothers in building up the colony.
Baron Solomon was admired for his high sense of honour and his unostentatious charity. He was head of the De Worms family... see following generations in this book.
