The Abbey of Saint Mary of Sawley (or Sallay), in Craven, was one of the eight Cistercian monasteries settled in Yorkshire, daughter house of Fountains (North Yorkshire), affiliated with Clairvaux. The Abbey was founded in 1147/1148 by William de Percy, and suppressed in 1536, when it was sold to Sir Arthur Darcy.
