Mexican and Civil War veteran, farmer. In the Civil War he was a Sargent in Company T 25th IL Volunteers. In the battle of Chickamaugua he was seriously wounded and became totally blind. He also survived a cholera epidemic in 1851 in Hutton Township. He was a Master Mason and a Royal Arch Mason.
