Deseret Evening News of April 29, 1916. Henry D. Durfee, son of Francillo and Miriam Jones Durfee, died April 15 at his home at the age of 82 years and seven months. He was born September 6 1833 in Westport, Essex County, New York and was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints l September 1844. March 26, 1857 he married Jane Barker. To them were born eleven children; seven are living, whose names are Henry D. Jr., Annie Cahoon, George L., Lorenzo, Alice J. Rice, Sarah E. Taylor, and Ida Bruesch. There are 51 grandchildren and 36 great grandchildren. Mr. Durfee made several trips across the plains in assisting immigrants to the Salt Lake Valley. He also went to California during the gold excitement and later returned and in 1880 made his home here where he spent his remaining days faithful to the Church of which he was a member. Funeral services were held April 18 in Almo Ward. Thomas O. King, President J. A. Elison and Elders Joseph Harper and Henry Belnap of the Stake Presidency were the speakers. Interment took place in the Almo Cemetery.
